Call To Worship, Blessing of Animals
“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it; the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24)
On this Sunday we bless the native animals of (Pennsylvania) who are inhabiting this part of God’s earth with us.
We bring before God all our domesticated animals that bring so much joy to our lives and brighten our days with their loving presence.
On this Sunday we bless our pets who are sharing our homes with us and sometimes our meals, who are with us in good times and in bad times.
We remember the animals that are mentioned in the Bible: the fish that swallowed Jonah and saved him from himself.
The ravens that brought bread to Elijah.
The donkey that protected Balaam.
The dove that told Noah that he has reached dry ground.
And every lamb that reminds us of Christ, the sacrificial lamb who died for our sins. May the Lord bless all animals! Amen.
