Lent/Cross  Call To Worship

P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C:  Amen.

P: Brothers and sisters, let us draw closer to the cross of Christ!

C:  The greatest mystery of our faith and the source of our salvation.

P:  As we come together to pray, let us cross off our own most selfish interests.

C: As we come together to pray, let us keep in mind the needs and interests of others.

P: For Jesus did not exploit his divine nature, but emptied himself of all privilege and became human. He was obedient to the point of death.

C: Even death on the cross!  

P:  Today, let us ask the Holy Spirit to lead us in our prayers, to focus our minds and thoughts on that which God reveals to us.

C:  Even people and things we hadn’t thought about!

P:  Lord, be our leader and our guide. Crucify our selfish interests and renew our community through the transformation of our souls.

C: Amen.
