Comfort (Advent II)

COMFORT CALL TO WORSHIP, ADVENT II

Person 1: Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

Person 2: Speak tenderly to everyone, but especially to those who have paid a price for mistakes and sins in their lives, who have experienced remorse and undergone a change of heart. God’s grace is here.

Person 1: Hear the voice of one calling: “In the chaos of this world, in the partisanship of a divided nation, the Lord wants to prepare a way that everyone can travel, a path toward peace.”

Person 2:  Get ready people! Rise above yourselves. Find the energy to leave the comfort zones that haven’t been very comforting at all and join the pilgrims on their way toward peace. God’s comfort is here.

Person 1: Here is what’s involved: every valley shall be raised up. The low places where we only fight for selfish reasons and destroy one another shall be lifted up.

Person 2: And every mountain and hill shall be made low. The mountains of human pride will be destroyed and those hills that separate us from one another will be leveled. God has a way of bringing us together.

Person 1: Finally, the rough ground shall become level and the rugged places a plain.

Person 2: In this season of advent we prepare ourselves for a new path, a new way of living, a new way of treating each other.

Person 1: It’s a path out of the exile of human sin, a path toward freedom, a path toward peace.  Come and join us.  Amen.
