Advent

P Stir up your power, Spirit of God, come down
And free us from everything that undermines our faith!
May our hearts may be prepared when you come
to conceive the Christ child in us.
During these advent weeks
bring Him into our lives,
And there, let him reign with you and the Father
One God, now and forever.
C Amen.

Holy Spirit, stir up our hearts
And prepare the way of the Lord among us.
Make straight what is crooked in our world
And pave a path for those who are stuck in a barren place –
Malnourished in body or spirit,
Desperate for salvation,
Hungry for spiritual food.
Come and prepare the way of the Lord:
God with us, among us and beyond us!
C Amen.

Lord, we thank you for these days of joy and expectation.
Prepare a way in our hearts and souls,
That we may receive you as our Lord and King.
May our lives reflect the eternal light,
Which you showed to all the world
In that little baby in the crib,
Jesus Christ, our Lord.
C Amen.
Stir up our hearts, Lord God, to prepare the way of your Son. Give people of the world insight into the flaws that need to be corrected, the practices that need to be changed, the path that leads to salvation. This we pray through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, a beacon of hope for the world, a light that shines in the darkness. C Amen.

And help us to be the people
You created us to be,
This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

and serve them for the sake of your Son,
Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Church

O Lord our God, overflowing with mercy and compassion,
Endlessly pouring your love and spirit into the universe:
Continue to form and shape our community,
That our hearts and souls are anchored in you.
Instill in us that hunger, which leads us to the bread of life,
Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
C Amen.

O Lord, our God, we thank you for the great gift of this church
And the many ministries born and nurtured here in this place.
Grow our passion for ministry and our desire for spiritual depth.
Give all our people generosity toward the church and those in need,
Through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
C Amen.

Almighty God, gracious Lord: you renew the church in every age.
Pour out your Holy Spirit and keep our ears receptive to your voice.
Open our eyes for signs of your presence.
Bless your church across all dividedness,
Through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord,
Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and forever. C Amen.

Dear Jesus,
We are called the body of Christ;
But not always have we lived in harmony,
Putting our agendas aside and truly seeking your will.
We pray for your church this morning,
Which reaches far beyond this place.
Help it become what you envision it to be,
As you are present among us in the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

O Lord our God, we thank you on this morning
For the leadership of our church,
Our bishops, pastors and lay ministers.
Continue to bless your church with people
That are touched and guided by your spirit
And willing to follow where you lead us,
This we pray in the name of Christ our Lord,
Who lives and serves with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.

Consecration

P Teach us, good Lord God,
to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
except that of knowing that we do your will,
through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
C Amen.

O Lord, our God, heavenly Father:
Many battles are fought for naught on earth; the blood of innocent people is shed every day. Help us as Christians to fight the right battles, not with arms and not in order to harm, but as warriors of peace, armed with faith and with great confidence in your power and grace.
C Amen.

Remembrance
O Lord our God, we come before you,
Remembering all the good people we have known,
Who are now in your eternal presence.
Today, fill us with Christian hope,
Thankful hearts and unshakable trust.
May your church proclaim your power –
Through life and death,
Joy and sorrow, old and new.
This we pray in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and forever.
C Amen.

Mother’s Day / Father’s Day

O God, our God,
We have praised you for thousands of years as our Father in heaven;
But we know that you transcend gender
And care for us with the love and compassion of a mother.
We have lifted up for thousands of years
The deeds of your sons who followed in the footsteps of Christ;
But we know that you love your daughters with equal zeal
And have empowered them to be true witnesses of the gospel.
Continue to enlighten us as we praise you
As our Father and Mother,
Creator, redeemer and source of life,
Both now and forever.
C Amen.

Dear heavenly Father,
you call us, equip us and send us to serve you in this world,
As leaders, as helpers, as fathers and mothers and mentors,
As people who believe in a higher cause.
Strengthen us by your Spirit,
and make us worthy of your call,
through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
C Amen.

Labor Day

O God our strength,
On this weekend we thank you for the gift of labor
And the many small businesses and business owners
Who provide employment and opportunities for others,
Even as they work hard themselves.
Help people honor times of rest and Sabbath,
Tend to their souls and reconnect with their creator,
Nurturing relationships that endure,
This we pray in Jesus’ name.
C Amen.
