The Quote:

“Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. … get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be amazed.” –  Abraham Heschel

Wisdom from Scripture:

Psalm 143: 8-10

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Rescue me from my enemies, LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”

Mark 1: 35-39

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.  Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.”

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for this day and what it offers. Thank you for small things and big things, for the air we breathe, for the relationships in our life, for food, and for the work we do. Give us eyes to look at things as if we had never seen them before; give us souls that appreciate the people around us as the unique people they are; give us hearts that ache to be alive. Be with those who are dealing with hardship, illness, grief and loss. Send them guardian angels. Amen.
