The Quote:

“It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire, forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.”  – Helen Keller

Wisdom from Scripture:

Isaiah 40: 28-31 (NIV)

Do you not know?     Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Philippians 3: 12-14 (NIV)

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer:

Lord, show us clearly what our tasks are for this week and help us to give them the right priority. Let us not be afraid of things that may appear too big for us at first glance; let us not give up on goals which you have clearly placed in our hearts; give us the strength, the will, the perseverance, and grit to strive toward those goals, knowing that we can do everything in your strength.

Amen.
