Wisdom from Scripture:
2.Corinthians 2: 12-15
“Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me, 13 I still had no peace of mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So, I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”
Acts 14: 26-28
“From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. 27 On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 And they stayed there a long time with the disciples.”
Comment:
Both these passages are from Paul or refer to Paul who, as a missionary, was used to having to change plans. It is often hard for us to do that once we are locked in on a certain goal or vision. Are we sensitive enough to hear the spirit’s voice and follow God’s direction?
Prayer:
Holy God, help us to hear you and follow your direction as we come to forks in our life. May you give us the strength to be steadfast, but also flexible; committed, but also willing to change. Help us to remain patient and hopeful when things do not go as planned. In Jesus’ name we pray.
