The Quote:

“The courage to be is rooted in the God who appears when God has disappeared in the anxiety of doubt.” – Paul Tillich

Wisdom from Scripture:

Acts 4: 13-14

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished, and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. 14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.”

  1. Timothy 1: 6-8

“For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.”

Comment:

“Be strong,” “be courageous,” “take heart,” –  there are so many Bible verses which en-courage us.  For good reason. Our hearts get so easily entangled in fear and worry… To be courageous and to fight for good and worthy things is an act of faith.

Prayer:

God, help us to be courageous and not live in our fears. When we are trapped in doubts, or paralyzed by head games, when we’re uncertain and passive, send a clear command to awaken our hearts.  Your spirit leads us to life and enables us to love. Your spirit empowers us to stand up in the face of adversity.  Your spirit allows us to dream and overcome barriers. You make us new, from inside out.

Amen.
