The Quote:

“The Seven Wonders of the World:

To See.   To Hear.   To Touch.    To Taste.    To Feel.    To Laugh.   To Love.”

Unknown.

Wisdom from Scripture:

Psalm 40: 5-6a

“Many, Lord, my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire – but my ears you have opened.”

Matthew 13: 15-17

“’For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

Prayer:

Lord, you have given us eyes to see and ears to hear, a heart to feel, a brain to think, hands to touch.  And yet, sometimes we live entirely in our heads or retreat behind walls, failing to embrace our world as you enabled us to do. Open our eyes and ears and senses to the fullness of life and to the depth of truth, to the pain of others, to the hope that flows from above… that your blessings may find a way into our hearts and spread out to those we meet and touch and listen to in our daily lives.

Amen.
