The Quote:
“Don’t forget, a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.”
– H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Wisdom from Scripture:
1. Samuel 2: 5-7
When David was told that it was the men from Jabesh Gilead who had buried Saul, 5 he sent messengers to them to say to them, “The Lord bless you for showing this kindness to Saul your master by burying him. 6 May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness, and I too will show you the same favor because you have done this. 7 Now then, be strong and brave, for Saul your master is dead, and the people of Judah have anointed me king over them.”

2. Corinthians 16: 15-18
You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord’s people. I urge you, brothers and sisters, 16 to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it. 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you. 18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.”
Comment: Here are just two biblical examples of people practicing appreciation. It is so easy to under-appreciate, when you think about it. Who are the people who may need a little extra appreciation this week?

Prayer:

Lord God, we thank you for the people in our lives: for those who are so good at reaching out to people when they need it most; for those who are so faithful in giving and sharing; for those who offer to help, despite limitations; for those who care enough to come up with good ideas and innovative plans; for all those who do many little things for a bigger purpose all the time. Lord, we give you thanks for the people in our lives! Amen.
