Doubting Thomas

Speaker 1: Today we remember Thomas and his difficult time at Easter.

Speaker 2: We can find ourselves in Thomas, our own doubts, our own questions.

Speaker 1: Thomas said: “Unless I see the mark of the nails and put my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

Speaker 2: We are often skeptical people, driven by our senses, relying on that which we can hear, see or prove.

Speaker 1: But Thomas was also a brave man, resisting hype, keeping a cool demeanor in the midst of great excitement.

Speaker 2: Sometimes we get carried away by emotions and wishful thinking and by popular trends that pull us in.

Speaker 1: Lord, help us to be bold in our beliefs, but also careful as Thomas was. Move us beyond mere trust in visible things and open our eyes for spiritual realities.

Speaker 2: Jesus said: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” With Thomas, let us learn to trust!

C Amen.
